PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve luminescent characteristics of a phosphor excited by irradiation of high density electron beams. SOLUTION: In a cathode-ray tube equipped with a fluorescent screen 31; a face plate panel 32 constituting a screen; an aluminum evaporated film 33; a funnel 34, and an electron gun 35, the phosphor constituting the fluorescent screen 31 to be applied to the face plate panel 32 is prepared in such a way that a terbium-activated phosphor is prepared by replacing a part of yttrium (Y) of a host crystal having zinc (Zn), silicon (Si), and oxygen (O) as main constituting elements with terbium ions (Tb<SP>3+</SP>), and ions of a trace rare earth element, are added to the terbium-activated phosphor.
