PRODUCTION METHOD OF OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for an optical fiber wherein a practical deuterium treatment is conducted. SOLUTION: In the production method, an optical fiber just after drawn and wound on a bobbin is exposed to a gas atmosphere containing a deuterium gas; then, before the deuterium gas in the optical fiber completely escapes, the optical fiber is wound on the other bobbin while it is kept under tensile force.
