PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumb turn device preventing the illegal operation of the thumb turn from an outdoor side and to provide a thumb turn protecting device used in the same. SOLUTION: This thumb turn device is composed of a thumb turn device body 4 performing the locking and unlocking operation to a rim lock 3 mounted in a door body 2 by rotating an operation knob 1, and a cylindrical operation control part 5 surrounding a side circumference of the operation knob 1.
