PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical filter which reduces yellowing of color tones produced by light, heat, humidity, etc., and has stable optical characteristics even if the filter contains a dimonium-based near IR absorption dye. SOLUTION: The optical filter contains the () system near IR absorption dystuff having the maximum absorption at least at 800 to 1,200 nm and a yellow dyestuff having the maximum absorption at 370 to 470 nm. The optical filter is characterized in that the change rate of b* in a L*a*b* color specification system when the filter is subjected to photoirradiation for 280 hours by using a xenon lamp of 73,000 Lux at an environmental temperature of 50 to 70°C through a UV cut filter of 390 nm in transmission threshold wavelength is within +0.6 to -1.0.
