COMPOSITION FOR TREATMENT OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE, CONTAINING HERBAL EXTRACT

PURPOSE: A composition containing an extract of herbal plants selected from Rubi Fructusm, Flos Puerariae and Salviae Radix as a main component is provided. It has excellent inhibitory activity on periodontal disease-inducing bacteria and protease secreted by the periodontal disease-inducing bacteria without adverse side-effects associated with its use. CONSTITUTION: The composition for treating periodontal disease contains 0.01 to 10% by weight of an extract of one or two or more herbal plants selected from Rubi Fructusm, Flos Puerariae, Salviae Radix, Cinnamomi Cortex, Cassiae Semen, Reynoutriae Radix, Lycii Fructus and Herba houttuyniae. The herbal extract is obtained by extracting herbal plants in any one solvent selected from hexane, chloroform and ethylacetate. The composition is any one selected from liquid toothpaste, mouthwash and an oral ointment.
