<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing hydrogen useful as fuel or a raw material in chemical industry from a waste plastic consisting mainly of polyvinyl chloride resin, and an apparatus for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing hydrogen is constituted of a cylindrical raw material supply tank 5 for supplying the waste plastic and a mixed molten salt consisting mainly of alkali metal hydroxide such as sodium hydroxide to a reactor, a reaction vessel 4 for reacting the waste plastic with the mixed molten salt under an inert or reducing atmosphere, a heater 8 for supplying heat required for the conversion reaction in the reaction vessel 4 and a cooler 14 for separating carbon or a decomposed oil gas from hydrogen produced in the reaction vessel 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
