<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ferrite compound oxide containing oxygen 4 coordinated tetravalent iron which can be stably handled in the atmosphere at a high concentration and has a layered rock salt type structure and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ferrite compound oxide has the layered rock salt type structure, contains the oxygen 4 coordinated tetravalent iron ions and is expressed by composition formula Li<SB>1+X-Z</SB>(Fe<SB>y</SB>M<SB>1-y</SB>)<SB>1-x</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(M=Co and/or Ni; 0≤x≤1/3, 0<y<1, 0<z≤1+x). Also, the lithium ferrite compound oxide is manufactured by reacting Li<SB>1+X</SB>(Fe<SB>y</SB>M<SB>1-y</SB>)<SB>1-x</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(M=Co and/or Ni; 0≤x≤1/3, 0<y<1) with an oxidizing agent at room temperature in a nonaqueous medium thereby chemically causing lithium elimination and iron oxidation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
