<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto unit automatic/manual switching mechanism capable of reducing cost by reducing the number of parts, and making the unit small and lightweight. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanism is equipped with a worm wheel 4 engaged with a worm gear 3 fixed to a rotating shaft of an electric motor 2, a planetary gear mechanism 6 which is concentrically disposed with the axial center of a worm wheel 4 with a ring gear 61fixed thereto, an output shaft 7 connected to a planetary carrier 64 side in the planetary gear mechanism 6, a wheel shaft 5 connected to a sun gear 63 side in the planetary gear mechanism 6 and spline-jointed axially movably with the worm wheel 4, and an operation lever 91 for axially moving the worm wheel 4 along the wheel shaft 5.
