PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide of which the efficiency, performance and quality are improved and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The waveguide includes a transparent polymeric central core clad with one or more polymeric layers. At least one of the core or a clad layer contains layered particles arranged in a polymeric binder and a majority of the particles have a lateral dimension less than 1μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
