<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain stable electrification-uniformity over long-term use of the device in injection charge II (electrifying roll + electrifying conductive particles). <P>SOLUTION: (1) In a charging device 2, a charging member is formed of an elastic body of a roller shape at least whose surface is made of a porous material, the speed of the charging roller is different from that of a drum surface, conductive particles are present on a contact face at least between the charging member and a charged member, and the contact angle of the photoreceptor drum surface to water is ≥86° and ≤103°. (2) In a cleaner-less image forming apparatus, the charging device mentioned in (1) is used. By employing the device for injection charge using charged conductive particles, the charged conductive particles are uniformly and steadily present in the charging contact area. Moreover, the close contact of the charging roll and the drum to each other is assured, and hence the charging device which maintains satisfactory charging performance throughout its durability life is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
