PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve utilization efficiency of an electric field applied to an electrooptic crystal. SOLUTION: An electric field detection optical part 21 detects the electric field based on a laser beam outputted from a detection light output part 32 and entering along the z-axis direction which is a prescribed direction. This electric field detection optical device has respectively the electrooptic crystal 34 having respectively a first refractive index n1, a first end face 34a where the laser beam enters, a second end face 34b where the laser beam goes out and an outside face 34c extending from the first end face 34a and linking to the second end face 34b, a second refractive index n2 smaller than the first refractive index n1, and first and second outside faces 35a, 35b facing each other across the laser beam along the optical path direction of the laser beam. In addition, the device is equipped with a low refractive index member 35 for covering the outside face 34c on the electrooptic crystal 34, and a signal electrode 36 and a ground electrode 38 mounted respectively on the first and second outside faces 35a, 35b on the low refractive index member 35.
