METAL OXIDE SOL AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide sol of tungsten or molybdenum comprising microparticles and giving a sol solution stable for a long time. SOLUTION: The metal oxide sol contains tungsten oxide or molybdenum oxide and ascorbic acid and has an average particle size of 300 nm or less. The sol is prepared by adding ascorbic acid to a solution of pertungstic acid or permolybdic acid to react them. Since the sol comprises uniform fine particles of tungsten oxide or molybdenum oxide and gives a stable solution, it is advantageously used e.g. for various electronic materials.
