PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying passage changing device capable of oscillating a branching pawl from a default position to the non-default side by a single attracting action of a solenoid, and holding the branching pawl on the non-default side even when the attracting action of the solenoid is stopped. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a main paper carrying passage, a plurality of subsidiary paper carrying passages branched from the main paper carrying passage, the branching pawl provided at a branching part to be capable of oscillation to send paper carried from the main paper carrying passage to the subsidiary paper carrying passage required, and the solenoid to oscillate the branching pawl by reciprocation of a plunger. The plunger of the solenoid 21 is linked to the branching pawl 14 by a guide means 26 in such a way that the branching pawl is oscillated for a first half by attracting action of the solenoid, and that the branching pawl is held at the position of oscillation as the attracting action is stopped.
