PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect by always making the point where the cap thread 5a of a cap 5 and the cap thread 2a of a container 2 start to engage at the same position. SOLUTION: The bottom end part 5a' of the cap thread 5a of a cap 5 is dropped from the top end pat 2a' of the thread 2a of a container 2 by rotating the cap 5 in a direction opposite to tightening by a capping head 6. The output torque of a motor 7 during this time is detected by a torque measuring means 8 and is recognized by a controlling device 12. When a torque reduction amount right after a torque peak P3 is recognized is larger than a specified quantity X, the device 12 recognizes the position as the engagement starting point of threads 5a and 2a.
