METHOD FOR PROCESSING QUERY FOR XML DATA RETRIEVAL

PURPOSE: A method for processing a query for an XML(eXtensible Markup Language) data retrieval is provided to maximize a query processing performance by converting a path expression for the query inputted from a user into the shortest path expression. CONSTITUTION: Duplicity of nodes found during reorganization of an XML document by parsing the input XML document is searched. The nodes excluding the duplicated nodes are stored in a separated tree structure. If the user inputs the query for the XML data retrieval, the path expression in the query is converted into the shortest path expression by rounding the tree structure.
