<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect a curved linear object and even a linear object with concave/convex parts with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: An edge pixel P1 extracted from a gray image of a processing object is sequentially paid attention to, and an edge pixel, the density gradient direction of which is reverse to that of the edge pixel P1, is retrieved in the range of a prescribed length W along a direction perpendicular to an edge of the edge pixel P1. When an edge pixel P2 corresponding to the condition is extracted by this retrieval, a line segment of a length L is set in a direction C parallel to an edge of the edge pixel P1 with the middle point Q between the extracted edge pixel P2 and the edge pixel P1 with the attention paid thereto as a basic point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
