PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate with an optical compensation layer in which the optical compensation layer hardly cracks.

SOLUTION: The polarizing plate with an optical compensation layer is obtained by aligning an optical compensation layer forming material containing a polymerizable liquid crystal material, fixing by polymerization to obtain the optical compensation layer and then laminating the optical compensation layer on a polarizing plate with an adhesive layer. A separator having ≥40 μm thickness is temporarily adhered with an adhesive layer to the opposite face of the optical compensation layer against the polarizing plate.
