<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly reliable packet communication equipment to which a function can flexibly be added. <P>SOLUTION: Packet communication equipment is composed of a plurality of interface elements (IFE) 2, a switch element (SWE) 1 which connects a plurality of IFE 2 and performs switching and routing manager elements (RME) 4. Function extension packet processing parts (xFP) 3 performing various high function processings can be mounted in accordance with a necessary function. The interface elements (IFE) 2 and the function extension packet processing parts (xFP) 3 are connected by using a logical bus. At the time of a fault in the logical bus, the interface elements (IFE) 2 are connected to the function extension packet processing parts (xFP) 3 via the switch element (SWE) 1. A data system on the logical bus is set to be similar to that passing through the switch element (SWE) 1. Selection circuits which selectively transmit/receive data to/from the logical bus or the switch element (SWE) 1 are disposed in the interface elements (IFE) 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
