PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide acrylic fibers for carbon fiber production, so designed that flame-proofed fibers are prevented from mutual fusing in the flameproofing step and afforded with good convergence during traveling and also contaminant production in the baking oven is prevented in the carbonizing step. SOLUTION: The acrylic fibers for carbon fiber production are obtained by sticking 0.03-2.0pt(s).mass of a treatment agent on 100pts.mass of acrylic fibers. In addition, it is preferable that 10-60pts.mass, based on 100pts.mass of the treatment agent, of a hygroscopic agent be stuck. The treatment agent comprises an aminosilicone 500-5,000cst in viscosity at 25°C and a polyolefin 500-2,000 in average molecular weight in the mass ratio of (30:70) to (70:30).
