摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact steering gear necessitating only the minimum maintenance and servo-controlled electrically. SOLUTION: This steering gear of a ship is provided with a mounting part 2 to which a rudder 1 is turnably attached and in which angle position of the rudder 1 is servo-controlled by motors 5, 6 in the mounting part 2 which is a part of a structure of the ship. This motor is an electric motor provided with a stator 5 fixed to the mounting part in an immobile manner and a rotor 6 fixed to the rudder 1 in an immobile manner. Power is supplied to this steering motor by variable frequency and variable voltage, and the steering motor transmits torque required for servo-controlling the rudder electromagnetically, namely, without physical contact to solve a problem of wear. Furthermore, this steering gear is simplified by reducing the number of devices constituting the steering gear to facilitate its installation in the ship, thereby contributing to the improvement of reliability of the steering gear.
