PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gazing direction detection device capable of detecting an initial position of the driver's eyes with high precision and in a short time. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with an eye position detection means CL2, an initial set means CL3 which sets up the eye position when the driver faces front direction as the initial position, a vehicle speed detection means CL4 detecting the running speed of the vehicle, an inter-vehicle distance detection means CL5 detecting the inter-vehicle distance from a leading vehicle, and an inter-vehicle time calculation means CL6 calculating the inter-vehicle time from the leading vehicle. In addition, the device has an initial setting accuracy set means CL7 which sets the accuracy to determine the initial position based on the inter-vehicle time obtained with the inter-line time calculation means, and the initial set means finds the initial position of the driver's eye with the initial setting accuracy set with the initial setting accuracy set means.
