The device has a fluid flow passage and at least two of the following: within the fluid flow passage a tethered floating indicator 1; within the fluid flow passage a tethered sinking indicator; the housing forming the fluid flow passage is at least partially transparent so as to enable the indicator(s) to be viewed. The term "indicator" is intended to embrace a sensor so that either of the floating or sinking indicators may be connected to a suitable indicator, for example an external indicating arm (not shown) where the fluid or housing is not sufficiently transparent.
