PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the number of color patches and to deal with the change of a printer over aging caused by a change in the locations of the color patches when measuring a color chart (patches).

SOLUTION: A feature amount converting unit 12 performs color conversion of inputted data, a history storage unit 11 stores history information in the past about measurement of the color chart including conversion values of measured values of the color chart, and an arithmetic unit 10 compares the history information stored in the history storage unit 11 with the information about the measurement of an inputted new color chart and determines the number of color patches on the basis of the result of the comparison. A profile updating unit 15 updates a printer profile on the basis of data reading the determined color chart and stores the printer profile in the history storage unit 11.
