<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of an image formed, by enabling application of automatic density adjustment (background removal), even if the operation of an automatic collar selecting (ACS) mode is carried out in a full color copy. <P>SOLUTION: In a system which sets up a processing mode chosen among a full color, a black and white, and an ACS modes alternatively, a background removal function is applied for each mode. In the full color and the ACS modes, density transform processing (ADS) is used in digital processing for generating a CMY edition image data (S14). In the black and white mode, AE processing is applied to follow and change the reference voltage of a transformer, which conducts A/D conversion of an analog output from a manuscript-reading image sensor, according to the background of a manuscript. According to this arrangement, density transform inhibited conventionally at the ACS mode can be applied, and the background (printed on the gummed side) can be removed effectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
