PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of switching operation by steering torque determined irrespective of road surface situation and operation by conventional steering auxiliary steering torque. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device is provided with a torque sensor 11 detecting steering torque and a first control means 17 for outputting a first control signal for driving a motor M for assisting steering based on the detected steering torque. It is provided with a steering angle sensor 10 detecting steering angle, a model steering means 20 for outputting model steering torque based on model steering model 20a determining the relation between the detected steering angle and the model steering torque corresponding to the steering angle, a second control means 21 for outputting a second control signal for driving the motor M for assisting steering to reduce a difference between the model steering torque outputted based on the steering angle by the model steering means 20 and the steering torque detected by the torque sensor 11, and a first switching means 18 for switching the first control signal and the second control signal.
