PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a glycolate ester, by which the glycolate ester is efficiently obtained, while inhibiting or preventing the side reaction of the glycolate ester. SOLUTION: This method for purifying the glycolate ester, comprising distilling a mixture comprising (1) the glycolate ester, (2) one or more components having lower boiling points than that of the glycolate ester, and (3) one or more components having higher boiling points than that of the glycolate ester, is characterized by recovering a fraction containing the glycolate ester by a side cut method.
