PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device capable of surely stopping a carriage on a predetermined position by restricting unnecessary movement of the carriage. SOLUTION: This liquid jet device comprises a liquid jet head 5 which is mounted on the reciprocating carriage 1 and can eject a liquid drop, and a locking means 61 which is retractably disposed on a moving path of the carriage 1 and stops the carriage 1. A driving mechanism 71 of the locking means 61 includes a driving shaft 43 which is rotatably provided to a fixing base 46 and has a sun gear 72, a gear holding lever 74 which is rotatably pivoted to the driving shaft 43 and rotatably holds a planet gear 78 engaged with the sun gear 72, and a driving gear 73 which is rotatably pivoted to the driving shaft 43 and has an inner gear 77 engageable with the planet gear 78. The driving lever 73 applies a driving force to the locking means 61 by rotating by virtue of the engagement between the inner gear 77 and the planet gear 78 caused by the rotation of the sun gear 72 upon the rotational stopping condition of the gear holding lever 74.
