PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus which can give priority to monochromatic message display or to color icon display in accordance with the ambient conditions for use. SOLUTION: A monochromatic display part consisting of monochromatic light emitting elements arranged in a matrix to display with a single luminescent color and a multicolor display part consisting of light emitting elements of various colors arranged in a matrix to display with a plurality of luminescent colors are continuously arranged to constitute one display screen. These display parts are driven to emit light by a first light emitting driving means and a second light emitting driving means. The first light emitting driving means drives the light emitting elements in the monochromatic display part and the light emitting elements in the same color as the monochromatic display part in the multicolor display part to emit light, while the second light emitting driving means drives the light emitting elements in the multicolor display part to emit light independently from the first light emitting driving means.
