PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-dip Pb-free Sn-Zn base coating having excellent workability, weldability and corrosion resistance, and particularly, suitable for materials as a fuel tank for car. SOLUTION: A hot-dip Sn-Zn base coated steel sheet has discontinuous FeSn<SB>2</SB>alloy phase on the surface of the steel sheet and 1% to < 100% area ratio of this FeSn<SB>2</SB>alloy phase and Sn-(1-30 mass%) Zn composition on this upper layer, and desirably, 0.1-2.5μm RMS of the surface roughness in the discontinuous FeSn<SB>2</SB>alloy phase.
