PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly practically usable capsule endoscope that can be assembled easily, is reduced in size, and can obtain the visual field range of 180°. SOLUTION: This capsule endoscope 1 is constituted by housing a ball semiconductor 11, an iron core 12, a spring coil 13, an electromagnet 14, and a light emitting diode (LED) 15 in a capsule type cover 10. The cover 10 is constituted of a body cover 21 and a transparent cover 22. When the hemisphere of the semiconductor 11 on the transparent cover 22 side is constituted in the pixel surface 31 of a CCD (charge-coupled device) image pickup element, the visual field range of 180°can be obtained. Since the cover 22 is constituted by forming a transparent material into an aspherical lens, the cover 22 also works as the objective optical system of the pixel surface 31 of the CCD image pickup element. The occurrence of flares caused by a luminous flux for illumination is prevented by providing a light shielding section 25 at the boundary between a portion through which the luminous flux is made to pass and another portion through which observational images are made to pass.
