<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer composition for forming protecting coating films having excellent scratch resistance and weather resistance and not having cracks, peeling and yellowing for a long period, to provide a coating method using the same, and to provide a coated article using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This primer composition is characterized by containing (A) a vinylic copolymer obtained by copolymerizing 5 to 40 wt. % of (a-1) a UV light-absorbing vinylic monomer, 1 to 50 wt. % of (a-2) an alkoxysilyl group-containing vinylic monomer and 10 to 94 wt. % of (a-3) any other monomer capable of being copolymerized with the vinylic monomers, (B) a curing agent capable of reacting with the vinylic copolymer (A), and (C) a thermoplastic vinylic resin having a glass transition temperature of≥80°C as essential components. A plastic article coated with the primer composition, especially a polycarbonate resin article, has excellent transparency, scratch resistance, weather resistance and chemical resistance, and is thereby suitable for uses used outdoors, such as the windows and wind shields of transport machines such as vehicles and air planes, building windows, and road sound-proof walls. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
