PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which ozone is hardly generated due to discharge even when charging an electrophotographic photoreceptor, the photoreceptor is prevented from being soiled or worn without a degradation in electrifying capability, thereby ensuring excellent durability, and a magnetically floating electrification member is kept horizontal, so that a high quality image is formed. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: the photoreceptor 1 which is turnably held in order to form and carry a toner image; a first magnet 2 which magnetizes the photoreceptor 1 or is disposed inside; a second magnet 3 which magnetically floats outside the photoreceptor 1 by means of the first magnet 2; the charging member 4 which electrifies the photoreceptor 1 integrally with the second magnet 3 with a predetermined gap left from the photoreceptor 1; and a charging-member horizontally floating means 5 which horizontally and magnetically floats the charging member 4.
