PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a deterioration in characteristics caused by selection or synthesis of a carrier with bad C/N in a space diversity for each carrier of OFDM demodulation, in which power is augmented by AGC and a reliability value which does not reflect actual received power is calculated. SOLUTION: A receiver unit equipped with AGC units 107, 108 for controlling a gain of a tuner 105 or 106 includes equalizing units 115, 116 for equalizing the output of fast Fourier transform units 113, 114, and reliability arithmetic units 125, 126 to calculate reliability of each carrier from a pilot signal. Then, the reliability value is compensated by reliability value compensating units 609, 620 based on output information from AGC units 107, 108. A carrier selection/synthesis unit 127 selects or synthesizes by weighting a carrier of branch according to the compensated reliability value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
