PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera wherein the storage capacity of a received light signal corresponding to the region except the region used for arithmetic operations in a prescribed region of a photographing screen is suppressed. SOLUTION: An MCU once stores all read data of vertical pixel columns in a memory region 61 when a sensor train to read out detection signals (data) corresponding to a focus area is any of vertical pixel columns LV, CV and RV. The MCU performs PRNU correction on data corresponding to the focus area to be objects of a focus detection calculation, and stores the corrected data in the region 61, performs PRNU correction on data corresponding to the area other than the focus area and stores the corrected data in a region 64 (62 and 63). The data which are stored in the region 64 (62 and 63) and whose PRNU correction is completed are used when the focus detection calculation is performed by changing the focus area to be the object of the focus detection calculation.
