PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a structure which is simple and capable of transmitting large power or to speed up speed change operations and to secure transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: Power transmission between a drive shaft 2a and a driven shaft 3a is executed by a transmitting shaft 12a which is arranged in the direction perpendicular to both shafts 2a, 3a and is displaced in the axial direction. A speed change ratio is changed by expanding/shrinking a space between a drive side disc 5a and a drive side backup disc 6a, and at the same time, by expanding/shrinking a space between a driven side disc 9a and a driven side backup disc 10a synchronously in the opposite direction. The problem is solved by making both expanding/shrinking devices 26, 27 on the drive side and the driven side for changing the space of each disc to be in a structure in which male screw cylinders 35, 46 and female screw cylinders 32, 45 are screwed in a state capable of moving close/away to/from each other.
