PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smaller and cheaper character entry device for entering characters more easily and rapidly to an electronic device requiring entery of conventional characters. SOLUTION: By this method, each key of mobile telephone set size is provided with a plurality of contacts, and the set is constituted so that characters and symbols can be entered easily by compact sliding mechanism of these keys, while assigning the characters and symbols intelligibly and efficiently.
