Pre-heating apparatus (30) for coupling to an input apparatus (12) connected to a reheating portion of a reheat-blow moulding machine (10) to preheat a selected portion of performs (14) traveling through the input apparatus. The pre-heating apparatus comprises a housing (32) having a first longitudinal wall (34) fixed to a first side (25) of the input apparatus, and a second longitudinal wall (36) hinged to the first longitudinal wall and releasably coupled to a second side (27) of the input apparatus, and heating elements (38) coupled to the longitudinal walls for preheating a selected portion of the performs, gravitationally traveling through the input apparatus, to a defined temperature gradient prior to introduction of the performs into the reheating section of the reheat-blow moulding machine.
