<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by which downtime is made short while keeping excellent image quality. <P>SOLUTION: An output image density detection means 15 detects the gloss of a developer image fixed on sheet material and the ratio of a transfer omitted image, and a controller 10 obtains the optimum carrying speed of the sheet material corresponding to desired gloss, obtains an optimum separation current corresponding to the carrying speed of two pairs of sheet material from a separation current and the detected ratio of the transfer omitted image corresponding to the separation current, and obtains the optimum separation current corresponding to the optimum carrying speed of the sheet material corresponding to the desired gloss from the carrying speed of the sheet material, the optimum carrying speed of the sheet material corresponding to the desired gloss and the optimum separation current corresponding to the carrying speed of two pairs of sheet material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
