COMPOSITE OF SILK PROTEIN WITH CHITOSAN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite of silk protein with chitosan not causing attachment of the chitosan to the surface of silk yarn and detachment of the chitosan contained in the interior of silk yarn and to provide a method for producing the composite.

SOLUTION: In the composite of the silk protein with the chitosan, cross-linking bond is introduced also between the chitosan and the silk protein in addition to cross-linking bond between chitosans. The silk protein is a silk yarn subjected to salt-shrinking treatment in an aqueous solution of a neutral salt. The method for producing the composite comprises impregnating the silk yarn with an aqueous solution of acetic acid of the chitosan to produce a chitosan-containing silk yarn and reacting the chitosan-containing silk yarn with a crosslinking agent.
