<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which reduction of titanium dioxide is restrained and while minimizing electric power consumption, slag containing titanium oxide can efficiently be produced when the slag containing the titanium oxide is produced from a material containing the titanium oxide and iron oxide. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing the slag containing the titanium oxide, raw material mixture containing the titanium oxide, the iron oxide and carbonaceous reducing agent, or the raw material mixture further containing calcium oxide source, is heated in a reducing furnace, and after making reduced iron by reducing the iron oxide in this mixture, this mixture is supplied into a heating type melting furnace and the slag containing the titanium oxide is separated by heating in this melting furnace and melting the reduced iron, and the obtained slag containing the titanium oxide is discharged to out of the furnace and recovered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
