PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an ink jet recorder having a belt conveyor in which performance and reliability of a belt cleaning device are enhanced. SOLUTION: With regard to a belt cleaning means for removing ink from the surface of a conveyor belt, ejection quantity from a dedicated cleaning head for ejecting cleaning liquid (e.g. water) is varied when preliminary ejection ink cleaning is performed and when ink cleaning is performed for jamming.
