The system to roll pipes, and especially heat treated seamless pipes, has a computer to provide overall control of the working of the rolling stands with their calibration rollers. The computer implements the technological processes, from a technology system, as tables and databases with nominal working parameters modified by data related to the actual production behavior. Measurements are taken of the actual parameters at the rolling stands to give the rolling speed, temperature, wall thickness, stretch, and the constitution of the rollers e.g. the rolling gap. The actual data are taken to give a self-correcting action. The computer is interfaced with the technology system for planning, control and monitoring of the production processes.
