PURPOSE: A method for preventing disconnection of audio and video streams in a home network is provided to detect cases where mutually different audio/video streams cannot be outputted in response to requests by a plurality of renderers, and to notify output unavailable signals, thereby smoothly transmitting audio/video signals according to processing capability of a server. CONSTITUTION: A renderer connected to a server in a home network requests the output of audio/video streams to the server(100). The server decides whether the output of the audio/video streams requested from the renderer is available(110). If the server decides that the output of the audio/video streams is available, the server outputs the audio/video streams to the renderer(120). If the server decides that the output of the audio/video streams is unavailable, the server delivers an output unavailable message to the server(130), wherein the server is one of a DVD(Digital Video Disk) player, a hard disk driver, and a complex electronic product thereof.
