PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring residual stress of optical fiber is provided to precisely measure residual stress of the optical fiber having asymmetrical circular distribution by measuring residual stress while rotating the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring residual stress of optical fiber includes a light generator(10), a lens system(30) of aligning light generated from the light generator(10), a polarizing system(50) for varying polarizing light of aligned light, a rotary measurement unit(100) for measuring residual stress of the optical fiber while rotating the optical fiber, and a photo detector(70) for converting a phase difference of the optical fiber caused by residual stress into an electric signal. The rotary measurement unit(100) has an optical fiber fixing section and a motor section.
