A method and an apparatus for quality inspection capable of surely detecting visually undetected minor irregular defects by easily detecting a projection at the edge of a seal, eliminating a variation between inspections, and allowing an accurate and reliable inspection in the extrusion inspection of a lateral line seal to inspect for the extrusion of the seal into a fusible thermoplastic material, the method comprising the steps of returning the shape of a container formed of a web-like packaging laminated material to the shape of a pillar-like preliminarily formed product, retrieving filled food by cutting the wall of the container, preparing a specimen, measuring, over the entire length of the edge part, irregularities on the outer surface of the edge part of a lateral seal zone on the inside of the container by a detection means, and based on signals from the detection means, determining by an analysis means whether the lateral seal zone is excellent or not. |
