PURPOSE: A carrier tape feeder is provided to control an operation of a shutter and shift the shutter as much as the predetermined width by using a shutter driver. CONSTITUTION: A carrier tape feeder includes a frame(1), a carrier transfer unit(20), a tape transfer unit(40), a driving unit(50), and an IC chip escape blocking unit(170). The carrier transfer unit(20) is installed at one side of the frame(1). The carrier transfer unit includes a sprocket for transferring a carrier(2). The tape transfer unit(40) is installed at the other side of the frame. The tape transfer unit includes a couple of transfer gears to transfer the stripped tape. The driving unit(50) drives the sprocket and one of the transfer gears. The IC chip escape blocking unit(170) is inserted into the carrier(2). The IC chip escape blocking unit includes a shutter for preventing an escape of an IC chip, a shutter shift member for shifting the shutter, a shutter driver for driving the shutter shift member, and a limitation device for limiting the movement of the shutter shift member.
