PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a variable communication radius in a DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) terminal is provided to adjust a communication radius according to a service request by adjusting a receiving level of the terminal according to a service purpose in an ITS(Intelligent Transport System) using an active DSRC protocol. CONSTITUTION: An RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) amplifier(410) amplifies the strength of a receiving signal converted as an IF(Intermediate Frequency). The first and second buffers(420,430) buffer the amplified strength of the receiving signal. An ASK(Amplitude Sequence Keying) limiter(440) performs the ASK demodulation of the strength of the receiving signal stored in the second buffer(430). A data switch(450), enabled and disabled by a switch control signal, outputs ASK-demodulated data. A voltage adjusting unit(460) adjusts a level of a communication radius control signal. A comparator(470) compares a voltage strength by the communication radius control signal of the voltage adjusting unit(460) with the strength of a receiving power outputted from the first buffer(420). A control unit(500) controls the operation of the data switch(450) according to the level of the output signal of the comparator(470).
