PURPOSE: A method of making puffed food products by placing a steel wire bent into a desired shape on a heating kettle of an apparatus for making puffed food products is provided, The steel wire plays a role of a mold and enables expansion of a raw material of starch and soybean oil under high temperature compression and thus makes it possible to form puffed food products with various shapes from a character to a letter and various thicknesses(above 0.3mm in thickness). CONSTITUTION: About 85.5% by weight of cereals having a moisture content of 13 to 14% are added with below 8.5% by weight of starch, below 5% by weight of moisture, below 1% by weight of soybean oil and below 0.5% by weight of salt and introduced into an apparatus for making puffed food products. A steel wire(3) having a diameter of 1.5 to 2mm is placed on a heated heating kettle(2) at 200deg.C to expand and puff the raw material. The steel wire length depends on a desired shape of the puffed food products.
