PURPOSE: A method for sensing a reverse/open phase of a multi-air conditioner system is provided to prevent the abnormal driving of the system by sensing the existence of a reverse or open phase simultaneously introduced with power. CONSTITUTION: A method for sensing a reverse/open phase of a multi-air conditioner system includes the steps of sensing R,S,T phases, and interrupt processing by sensing one of the R,S,T phase as an interrupt falling edge. If the interrupt is generated, the other two phases are read. IF phases are input in the high and low sequence more than a predetermined frequency after the generation of the interrupt, the phases are normal open phases. If the phases are input in the sequence of low and high, or high and high, the phases are reverse. If the interrupt is generated less than the predetermined frequency, the open phase is determined. As the reverse/open phases are determined, reverse/open phase error messages are generated after stopping all operations.
