A ventilation system for an animal litter tray, e.g. for a cat litter box, has a flexible extract duct (13) connected between the tray and a T-piece (2) fitted into a waster water drainage duct. The connection is downstream of a U-bend (10) and is provided with seals. The connecting arm of the T-piece is further fitted with a blower (12) to pump air into the waster duct and to create a negative pressure in the flexible duct.
